John McNaughton Rosebush Professorship Award

All members of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh community (faculty, staff, and students) are eligible and encouraged to nominate members of the teaching faculty for the John McNaughton Rosebush University Professorship. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
The John McNaughton Rosebush University Professorships were named for John McNaughton Rosebush who directed University development and the UW Oshkosh Foundation in the 1970s. The award was established in 1979 by Chancellor Edward Penson with corporate and individual contributions.
One of the University’s most coveted awards, the professorships are granted for excellence in teaching, professional achievement and public service. Candidates are considered in a rigorous selection process by a panel representing all university governance groups.
The John McNaughton Rosebush University professorships serve to reinforce the connection between teaching and research recognizing that teaching is primary and that research strengthens the teaching function. These remain the most important endeavors of the faculty and will be given primary consideration by the Committee. (Faculty Senate Minutes, November 6, 1979).
