Our team of ten Summer Ambassadors has completed their work this summer. They were a great addition to the office these past few months and we will definitely miss their hard work, energy, and enthusiasm. However, before we begin another academic year, we still have a couple more Summer Ambassadors to showcase!

First up is Stephanie Bigley! Stephanie is a Social Work major with a minor in Criminal Justice and is going to be a Senior. Stephanie thinks that the best part about the city of Oshkosh is that there is so much to do around the city. There is a farmer’s market every Saturday, a movie theatre with $5 moves on Tuesday and Thursday, a bowling alley, and a ton of good restaurants. When asked why students should choose to attend UWO, Stephanie responded, “There is something here for everyone, whether it’s clubs and organizations, sports, or academics. Students here will have no problem fitting in and feeling like they belong here.” Stephanie is also involved on campus with the Women’s Rugby Club, Boxing Club, and the Social Work Association.

Fast Facts about Stephanie

If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would you choose and why?: Alex Morgan, because I want to know what it’s like to be that athletic and talented

Best Study Post on Campus: Second Floor of Polk Library

Our next stellar Summer Ambassador is Mariah Mihm! Mariah is going to be a Junior this coming fall with a Dual License in Special Education and Early Childhood Education. Mariah comes to UW Oshkosh from Slinger, Wisconsin. When asked why she believes students should attend UW Oshkosh, Mariah responded, “UWO offers a wide variety of majors and opportunities for students to attend this university. I find that there I always something to do or get involved in when not in class, work, or studying.” In addition to working in the Admissions Office, Mariah has been involved in Collegiate 4-H, Taylor Hall Council, and a member of NSLS. She also works as an office assistant in the Reeve administration office as well as an involvement consultant in the student involvement area in Reeve.

Best piece of advice you ever received: Take time to focus on yourself. Schedule time in your day where you can focus on yourself.

Favorite Class/Professor: American Sign Language (ASL) with Professor Tom Fischer

If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would you choose and why?: I don’t have a pet myself, but I would trade places with a pet. I would get to relax, eat, play, and just have a more care-free life for a day.

Last, but certainly not least, is Jennifer Flores! Jennifer is going to be a Junior with a major in Social Work and minor in Sociology. She chose to attend UWO because she wanted to go somewhere far away, but not too far to gain independence. Also, she believes that it is a very “homey” feeling campus. Jennifer’s favorite place on campus is the Sage Café. On campus, she is also involved in the Student Organization of Latinos. If you are looking for a place to study, Jennifer suggests the 2nd floor of Clow, either in the large open area or in a classroom.

If we haven’t said it enough, we are extremely grateful to have had such a great team of students to work with this past summer. They were all fantastic additions to the office and we wish them all the best of luck in the future.
