Congratulations, Titan: You applied, you were admitted, and you held your spot. What’s next? Read on to learn about your next steps at UW Oshkosh. The instructions on this page are for first-year and transfer students on the Oshkosh campus.

1. Activate Your NetID and Access Your Student Email
Your UWO NetID is the first portion of your UWO email address (everything before the @ symbol). This information is included in the email sent to you after you hold your spot.
Log into your email at outlook.com/uwosh.edu.
Be sure to check your email often. Many departments will only communicate with you through this address.
If you experience difficulty setting up your ID or email, please contact the IT Help Desk at 920-424-3020 or helpdesk@uwosh.edu.
2. Register for Titan Takeoff
Register for Titan Takeoff as soon as you activate your NetID to secure your orientation date. Titan Takeoff is an on-campus orientation, advising, and registration experience. You’ll receive more information about Titan Takeoff at your UW Oshkosh email account.
For students entering in spring, this will take place in December and January. For students entering in the fall, this will take place over the summer. You will receive more information about Titan Takeoff to your UW Oshkosh email account.
FALL 2024
Students starting in the fall will attend Titan Takeoff in the summer.
3. Submit Housing Forms and Select a Dining Plan
Begin your housing and dining application. You will use your UWO NetID and password to log in. There is a $75 housing deposit. Learn more about the housing and dining application and timeline.
Housing Exemptions
Exceptions are made for those students who are veterans, married or are 21+ years of age; who lived in a residence hall for four semesters; who have successfully earned at least 48 credits; and/or who have permission to commute from their parent’s home within 45 miles commuting distance.
To qualify for an exemption, complete the Commuter Card form on or before your first day of classes.
4. Complete Online Orientation Modules
This online Pre-Advising orientation needs to be completed before your Titan Takeoff. Included in this orientation is a required Pre-Advising form that will help our Academic Advisors know which classes you are eligible to take.
5. Complete Placement Tests
Placement test requirements vary by student type. Learn more about placement tests at UWO.
For students starting classes in fall 2024, placement testing opens on March 15th. Students starting in spring 2024 can test in December or January.
First Year Students
All first-year students are required to complete an English and Math placement test at least two weeks prior to attending Titan Takeoff. Optional foreign language placement tests are available in French, Spanish and German.
You may be exempt if you have successfully completed a transferable level course (eg. CAPP, ECCP) in English composition, math or foreign language. You may also be exempt if you have completed an AP or IB course prior to your senior year and received a qualifying score on the exam.
Transfer Students
If you have completed a transferable college level math and English composition course, you do not need to take a placement test. Your Transfer Credit Evaluation, will aid you in determining if you have a transferable math and English course.
6. Apply for Financial Aid and Scholarships
You may file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov. The UWO school code is 003920. Learn more about applying for financial aid.
UW Oshkosh also offers various scholarships. Learn about UWO-specific scholarships here. Please be sure to pay attention to deadlines and submission requirements as they vary by scholarship.
7. Get your Titan ID
Visit Titan Central, located on the first floor of Reeve Union. Bring a valid form of ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, as well as your student ID number. There is a $20 fee for your TitanCard, which can be paid that day or billed to your student account. Students often pick up their TitanCard on the day of their advising appointment or during Transfer Orientation.
8. Submit Final Transcripts
If you are currently enrolled in any academic coursework, your offer of admission is contingent on completing all courses at an acceptable level and meeting UW System admission requirements. Official final transcripts from all in-progress courses must be submitted as soon as they are available.
If you took any AP or IB tests during high school, or received military credit, you may be eligible for college credit. Click here to view the AP and IB Credit Charts. Students should have all official score reports and military transcripts sent to the Admissions Office.

UW Oshkosh Email Update:
Multi-Factor Authentication is two-step verification process that each UWO student must use when accessing their Outlook email account. This authentication process is to better secure your email, especially when accessing sensitive information. Because passwords can be forgotten, stolen, or compromised, this additional security step helps to make your account more difficult for others to access.
