Pre-Health Graduate School Preparation

Preparation Steps

Prior to Freshmen Year:

  • Meet with your UARC advisor during Titan Takeoff to begin planning your academic plan and ultimate goals

Freshmen Year:

  • Begin requisite math and science courses
  • Consider health related volunteer opportunities and job shadowing
  • Research several health professional schools to which application may be made and learn about specific requirements for admission to each
  • Begin to gather information about admission requirements for professional schools or programs
  • Take advantage of campus resources
  • Meet with your UARC advisor to continue formulating academic plan

Sophomore Year:

  • If you haven’t done so, declare your chosen major
  • Continue to develop relationships with faculty members and faculty advisor in chosen major
  • Start preparing for standardized exams by reviewing material covered in your introductory science and math courses

Junior Year:

  • Make contact with admissions representatives and request application material from health professional schools to which application will be made
  • Register for pre-professional exams (MCAT, DAT, OAT, GRE, etc.)
  • Take pre-professional exam
  • Summer: Complete all application materials and submit to schools of choice. 

Senior Year:

  • Refine your interviewing skills
  • Interview
  • Graduate!
