In the past students have discussed how learning about plants can be hard and sometimes boring. At our school we wanted students to be excited and engaged in their learning, so our team came up with this arts integrated lesson to help get our students ready to learn all about plants. Students are learning not only in their regular classroom, but in art and music with this lesson as well. Not only do the students learn about plants but they are learning about watercolor in the art room, and jazz/chants with music. When we combined all three of these subjects the students became engaged in the lessons and looked forward to transferring what they learned about watercolor and jazz to plants. Included in our presentation will be the individual lessons used in the art, music and regular classrooms, along with the combined lesson where students put together all the knowledge they learned into one project.
