Using a digital hand-held microscope and a smartphone (also compatible with windows os and mac os) students can take microscope pictures (50x-1000x magnification). This alternative and enlarged view of the world around them, opens up dialogue for science and photography applications. Through exploring the use of microscopes in science, students learn to appreciate its implications. With photography and the freedom to explore microscopic compositions, students can apply their artists tastes in the microscope images they create. Lesson can be expanded to study specific items, artists who are connected to the science and nature art, or opened to let students explore.
