Message from the Associate Vice Chancellor

Damira Grady, Ph.D.

Welcome to the Division of Academic Support for Inclusive Excellence at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

The role of University Diversity Officer (UDO) was established in September 2020 to provide leadership and vision for initiatives that align with the principles and goals of the college’s inclusive excellence and access, equity, diversity, and inclusion strategic plan. The UDO, along with the staff in the Division of Academic Support of Inclusive Excellence (ASIE), guides efforts to communicate to the college constituency our commitment to access, equity, diversity, and inclusion; ASIE aims to empower and inform students, faculty, staff, and the broader community to create an accessible, equitable, diverse, and inclusive campus climate through outreach initiatives, educational programming, leadership opportunities, and multicultural events.

Diversity enhances the learning experience by exposing and challenging us to consider, weigh, and value others’ thoughts, experiences, and practices that are different from ourselves. The university strongly believes that we must create the best possible educational environment for students whose lives are likely to be significantly changed during their time at UWO.

We encourage you to explore the ASIE website, where you will find a wealth of information on events, activities, programs, opportunities, and resources related to access, equity, diversity, and inclusion issues. We encourage you to get involved as we strive to make UWO a global leader of inclusive excellence.
