Active Learning Strategies

One of the best parts about teaching in an active learning style is finding the strategy that will be most effective at helping students understand, practice, or reflect on their learning.  Below you will find a list of potential activities to use in your classes. Remember every activity will require students to interact with the concepts being taught in different ways.  Review your course learning outcomes and weekly objectives for the course.  If students will be required to explain something, choose an activity that will require them to write.  If students will need to synthesize, model or create, choose an activity that gives them practice doing that.

Their are many activity lists widely available with a simple web search.  Here is a list of Active Learning Strategies to get you started.
