Campus Communities,

The Wisconsin Department of Justice filed criminal charges against former University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Chancellor Richard Wells and former Vice-Chancellor of Finance and Administration and CBO Thomas Sonnleitner. The charges relate to UW Oshkosh Foundation financial issues and real estate projects. The UW System and Board of Regents posted a statement and the complaints HERE.

I know the circumstances surrounding this matter can be concerning for students, faculty, staff, alumni and university partners. However, together we will continue to exemplify resilience through stewardship.

We all care about this institution’s mission, reputation and future, and we are moving forward. We remain focused on transforming lives through learning, teaching, research, service and support at UW Oshkosh.

Together, we also continue to cultivate a campus culture of greater transparency and ethical behavior. UW Oshkosh’s many stakeholders share confidence and compassion as they see us putting our values into practice every day, fulfilling our honorable mission. Your integrity and resolve inspire me daily.

Thank you for your many contributions.

Chancellor Andy Leavitt
