Magdalyn Gosz ’22 and Lindsay Goeden presented “Manganese Homeostasis in Bacteria: Identification of the Protein Bonding between the Small Protein MntS and Manganese Exporter MntP in E. coli“, based on their research with Dr. Lauren Waters, at UW Oshkosh’s annual Celebration of Scholarship and Creative Activity.

On March 31 Amanda Leichtfuss Beekman ’17 returned to campus to present a seminar about her work as a materials R&D chemist at PDC, part of Brady Corporation.

On Friday, February 24 Adam Dach ’11 and his colleague Brian Renzelmann will present a Chemistry Department Seminar about their careers at MilliporeSigma’s Pharmaceuticals Ingredients Division.

Senior chemistry majors Thomas Cisler and Chris Rabe, and brand new alumni Ethan Groshens and Blake Schroeder, were featured in a UW Oshkosh Today story.

Our chemistry graduates are leaving UW Oshkosh for positions in industry, chemistry PhD programs, and medical school. The chemistry majors graduating in December 2022, at the last department seminar of the year.

Sarah Schettle, who graduated from UW Oshkosh in 2008 with a double major in Chemistry and Spanish, is now a Physician Assistant and Assistant Professor of Surgery at Mayo Clinic. She was recognized at the 2022 Outstanding Alumni Banquet. Read more about her accomplishments in UW Oshkosh Today.

UWO Chemistry alumnus Gary Held ’95 is an analytical chemist at Thermo Fisher. His facility is very busy producing nucleotides for the mRNA vaccines against COVID-19.

Josh Hill ’16, who is working on a PhD in chemistry at the University of Wyoming, is the first author of the paper Locally Engineering and Interrogating the Photoelectrochemical Behavior of Defects in Transition Metal Dichalcogenides which was published in Journal of Physical Chemistry C.
