FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is the MBA-Executive program available in the online format?

No, the MBA-Executive program is only in the in-person format on Saturdays at our Appleton location.

What classes will post to my transcript?

36 credits will post to your transcript over the course of 16 months.

Contact mba@uwosh.edu for details.

Is this a pass/fail program or are there grades?

No, it is not a pass/fail program.

There are grades issued for each course based on the number of points that you earned.

Can I miss a Saturday?

Yes, missing a few Saturdays during the 16 months is expected. We understand students have personal and professional commitments that sometimes occur on the weekends. Most students prefer not to miss too many classes but when it is required, that’s when mini executive teams come in handy. Your team members will be able to share their class notes with you, let you know about anything you’ve missed or that may be due the following week, and can assist you in understanding the classroom materials.

Is the international study tour required?

Yes, it is an important learning experience that the cohort engages in together.

The international study tour spans two countries and typically has 4 business visits in each country as well as cultural experiences.

Are there internship opportunities?

Internships are rare at the graduate level. The majority of our students work full-time while earning the degree, so there isn’t a need to develop a formal internship program for our students. We do, however, pass along information about jobs and internships that are available to our students whenever we get it. Our students are also eligible to work with the Career Services department on campus for internship and/or job prospects.

The MBA Executive Program has an Opening Orientation and a Closing Residency on the calendar. Does the “residency” require me to stay at the hotel, or can I go home in the evenings?

The Opening Orientation/Residency is an opportunity for you to form bonds with your cohort and small study mini executive teams. Hotel lodging is built into the program, and we encourage you to stay on-site. Similarly the Closing Residency is the culminating experience of the MBA-Executive program. This time is devoted for your final project. Again lodging is built into the program and we encourage you to stay on-site for your final days with your cohort.?

The program cost is $59,500. This fee is all inclusive for the 16 month program and includes tuition, books, course materials, all meals on class days, (including breakfast, lunch, snack breaks), orientation and residency events including lodging and meals and an international trip. The only component of the international trip that is not included is several meals when students have free time.

Why does the MBA Executive program cost more than the MBA Professional program?

The tuition for the MBA Executive program is competitively priced compared to other Executive offerings, while providing exceptional value for participants and Wisconsin organizations.
The cost was set after extensive research was done by the UW Oshkosh MBA Office with close collaboration of almost 500 executives in Northeast and North Central Wisconsin.

When are payments due for the MBA Executive program?

A deposit of $1000 is due within 30 days after receiving an acceptance packet to reserve your spot in the cohort. The remaining balance is spread over four semesters in equal payments. Students or employers may find it beneficial to make the fourth and final payment the month after graduation. Please contact us if you or your employer would like to request this extension.

Admission

How much work experience is required for the MBA Executive program?

Individuals must have a demonstrated ability to contribute to the cohort (typically 8+ years professional experience).

What if my undergraduate major was not in business?

Admission to the MBA program is not determined by undergraduate major(s). Only about half of our MBA students have undergraduate business degrees.

Is there a GRE/GMAT requirement?

The GRE/GMAT is generally waived for the MBA Executive program based on professional experience. Contact the MBA Office at mba@uwosh.edu for more information.
