Ed.D. Superintendency Licensure – 03 District Administrator License

This regionally based and globally connected degree offers coursework on campus, off campus and online. It focuses on building a solid department tradition at both the bachelor’s and master’s degree levels of excellence in PK-12 education and administrator preparation.

The degree features:

  • Active learning both inside and outside of the classroom with excellent connections to the professional communities and the people, institutions and communities we serve
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusivity, international perspectives and support for those with disabilities and special needs
  • Coursework targeting and supporting the development in the leadership for student academic growth and achievement

Admission Requirements

  • Valid Wisconsin teaching license
  • Master’s degree in an education field
  • Wisconsin Administrative Licensure for PK-12 Principal (51)
  • Minimum of 3 years successful experience as an administrator
  • Successful completion of a background check

Courses

The 54-credit degree is designed to be completed in three years. Students will be enrolled in six-credit semesters in fall, spring, and summer sessions. Program coursework falls into four categories:

  • Foundational coursework in the study of education leadership (12 credits)
  • Coursework emphasizing leadership skills in administrative positions (18 credits)
  • Seminar/field experience (9 credits)
  • Context related to researching and writing skills culminating in a dissertation (15 credits)

  • Issues of Finance, Funding and the Economics of Schools
  • Dissertation Seminar II: Review of Related Literature
  • Leadership Seminar: Field Experience III
  • Organization and Human Resources Management
Year Three
  • Dissertation Seminar III: Data Collection
  • Instructional Supervision: Curriculum Theory for District Administrators
  • Organizational Analysis, Planning and Assessment
  • Current Issues in School Leadership
  • Dissertation Seminar IV: Data Analysis and Conclusions
  • Capstone Experience: Presentation of Findings
