Don Hones taught ESL (ages 8 to adult) for 10 years in Spain, Ecuador, California, Oregon, Minnesota and Michigan. He taught political science for three years at universities in California and Minnesota, and for the last 12 years has taught in the teacher education program at UW Oshkosh.

He has written and managed approximately $2.7 million in federal grants for the preparation of ESL and bilingual teachers and professionals. He has also written two books and over a dozen articles in this field.
