Dr. Swanson enjoys working with clients of all ages in individuals, groups, and family modalities. She has developed specialties in marriage and family counseling, parenting, counseling adolescents, and diagnosis.

Dr. Swanson is currently pursuing research interests in the areas of parenting, diagnosis, LGBTQIA identity development, and suicidal behaviors in adolescents. She works to create educational strategies that allow students to work towards a mastery orientation and embark on a lifetime of learning. She enjoys collaborating with students and colleagues in scholarly activities. Dr. Swanson is also an active member of the American Counseling Association and the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision.
