Open Records Request
In its most general terms, Wisconsin Public Records Law [Wis. Stat. §§ 19.31-19.39] provides that a requester may inspect and/or receive a copy of any record that is not specifically exempted from disclosure by state or federal law. UW Oshkosh abides by Wisconsin Public Records law and therefore has designated a Custodian of Public Records to meet its obligations under Wisconsin public records laws. As required, we will respond to your request as soon as is practicable and without delay, and will provide you with a response as quickly as possible.

Methods for Obtaining Records
Members of the public may obtain information and access to or copies of public records by making a request to the Records Custodian at publicrecords@uwosh.edu, (920) 424-3995, or during regular offices hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at:

Requesters must provide at least 24 hours advance written or oral notice to the Public Records Custodian of intent to inspect or obtain copies of public records in-person.
Cost
UW Oshkosh may bill requesters $.25 for each copy made but will not charge reproduction costs for electronic copies of records that exist in electronic format. A location fee may be charged if the cost to locate the record(s) in question is $50 or more. Location fees will be calculated at the hourly salary and benefit rate for the lowest-paid employee capable of performing the task. No fee will be charged for the cost of reviewing records for possible redaction or removal of confidential information. Requests which exceed a total cost of $5 may require prepayment.
Description of Organization
The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is created and exists pursuant to Chapter 36 of the Wisconsin Statutes. UW Oshkosh is governed by the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin and is directed by the Chancellor of UW Oshkosh.
