College of Nursing

The following requirements must be met prior to consideration for admission into the DNP–Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Emphasis:

A) BSN from a program accredited by the National League for Nursing (NLNAC), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on College Nursing Education (CCNE).

B) Current unencumbered Wisconsin licenses as a registered nurse and advanced practice registered nurse/advanced practice nurse prescriber. Individuals licensed in other states should contact psychnp@uwosh.edu for additional information about the licensure requirement.

C) Minimum 3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA.

• Applicants with a GPA of 2.70 to 2.99 may be considered for admission under probationary status. GRE scores are required for such applicants.

D) Three professional references with knowledge of applicant’s current professional and/or academic skills.

*Registered nurse experience is very helpful, but not required.

Note: Due to the competitive nature of the admission process applicants should understand that meeting the minimum standards does not guarantee admission into the program.
