Suicide Prevention Training

The Counseling Center offers suicide prevention training developed by the JED foundation. We currently offer these trainings virtually throughout the semester.

Training requests for either presentation can be sent to counseling@uwosh.edu.

 

 

 

For Student Audience: You Can Help a Friend

This one-hour training covers how to help a friend/peer with mental health concerns and/or thoughts of suicide.

This training covers the following program objectives:

  • How to identify signs of distress
  • What students can do to help a friend/peer in distress
  • How to take action
  • Where to go for more support

Wed., March 6 at 12 – 1 pm

Wed., April 10 at 12 – 1pm

 

For Faculty/Staff Audience: You Can Help a Student

This one-hour training shares information about recognizing and responding to students in distress and how to help students with mental health concerns and/or thoughts of suicide.

This training covers the following program objectives:

  • Understanding current landscape of mental health in college students
  • How to identify signs of distress
  • What faculty/staff can do to help a student in distress & how to take action
  • Where to go for more support
