Introductory Criminal Justice Courses (Required):

CJ 110: Introduction to the Criminal Justice Process (3 credits); Prerequisites: None

CJ 244: Correctional Process (3 credits); Prerequisites: None 

CJ 270: Introduction to Criminal Law (3 credits); Prerequisites: None

CJ 281: Elementary Statistics in Criminal Justice Research (XM); Prerequisites:  Math 104, 106, 108, or 110 with a C or better; or placement into Math 171 or 201; or a grade of C or better in Math 105, 109, 186, 187, 188, or 189 and a grade of C or better in Math 103 (or placement into Math 104, 106, or 108).  CJ 281 qualifies as a Math Level II course and an XM course (i.e., a USP course: a University Studies Program Course: quantitative literacy).

CJ 288: Police in Modern Society (3 credits); Prerequisites: None 

Foundational CJ Courses (Required):

CJ 312: Management of Criminal Justice Organizations (3 credits); Prerequisites: at least two of the following: CJ 244, CJ 270, CJ 281, CJ 288; Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor. *PA 221: Introduction to Public Administration may be substituted for this course. 

CJ 318: Adjudication Process in Criminal Justice (3 credits); Prerequisites: at least two of the following: CJ 244, CJ 270, CJ 281, CJ 288; Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 343: Quantitative Research Design (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 281 or concurrent enrollment in CJ 281 and at least one of the following courses: CJ 270, CJ 288, or CJ 244; Criminal Justice Major or consent of instructor.

CJ 351: Theoretical Criminology (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 281 or concurrent enrollment in CJ 281 and at least one of the following courses: CJ 270, CJ 288, or CJ 244; Criminal Justice Major or consent of instructor.

Elective Criminal Justice Courses: 15 elective credits required

CJ 304: Criminal Investigation (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 315: Police Deviance (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 319: Criminal Courts: Proof of Guild (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 328: Criminal Courts Behavior (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 331: Women and Crime (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 332: Institutional Violence (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 333: Illegal Bias in the Criminal Justice System (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 334: Comparative Criminal Justice Policies (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 340: Police Administration (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 341: Administration of Police Operations (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 344: Crime Films, Popular Culture, and Criminology (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 346: Community-Based Corrections (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 347: Juvenile Justice System (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 348: Law of Corrections (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 352: Organized Crime (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 353: Convict Criminology (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 354: Homeland Security and Terrorism (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.

CJ 375: Special Topics – the topic of this course will vary (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor; course can be repeated twice as long as a different topic is taken.  See Academic Department Associate if you plan to take two CJ 375 courses.

CJ 396: Internship in Criminal Justice (1 – 8 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor; 90 credits completed; 3.0 or greater GPA in CJ Major

CJ 446: Independent Study (1 – 3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.; department consent and general prerequisites as described by Course and Academic Advisement Policies

CJ 474: Honors: Thesis (1 – 6 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270 and at least 12 credits from the following: CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; must be a Criminal Justice Major or Minor or consent of instructor.; department consent, university honors status, and junior or senior status.

Level 4 Course (Required):

CJ 358: Major Criminal Justice Issues (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 110, CJ 270, CJ 212, CJ 218, CJ 244, CJ 281, CJ 288, CJ 343, and CJ 351; at least 9 of the 15 required elective credits completed or consent of instructor.
