Each month throughout the academic year, the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh community is invited to take a quick culinary trip without leaving the comfort of Reeve Union to sample a wide variety of world cultures and cuisines.
Through Taste of Nations—a partnership between the Office of International Education, Reeve and Sodexo— students, faculty, staff and members of the greater Oshkosh community explore such diverse countries as Australia, Costa Rica, India and Japan.
In April, Executive Chef Chris Brown served up an authentic Pakistan menu complete with raita (vegetable salad with yogurt), naan (flat fried cake bread), dahl (lentil stew), chicken biryani (spicy chicken with basmati rice), chana masala (chickpeas) and ras malai (crustless cheesecake).
UW Oshkosh students Sumrah Anum and Nauman Savul enjoyed introducing their home country of Pakistan to the UWO community.
“I thought it is a great chance to represent my country and let everyone know the positive facts about it,” said Anum, a marketing major. “Pakistan is a generous country with lots and lots of good aspects. I also want to share that it is full of beautiful sight-seeing locations, culture and food.”
