Free Tuition at UW Oshkosh for Qualified Students

The Wisconsin Tuition Promise at UW Oshkosh is an investment and commitment to Wisconsin resident students. The program, which launches in the fall of 2023, guarantees free tuition for students whose household adjusted gross income (AGI) is less than $62,000.

The Wisconsin Tuition Promise is offered to students on all three campuses of UW Oshkosh, including online and on-campus programs. College is an incredible investment, and through the Wisconsin Tuition Promise, UWO invests in your future.

What is the Wisconsin Tuition Promise?

The Wisconsin Tuition Promise at UW Oshkosh is part of the UW-System initiative to support Wisconsin resident students. It is guaranteed funding for students whose household adjusted gross income (AGI) is $62,000 or less allowing them to benefit from free tuition.. Students will automatically be considered for the UW Oshkosh Tuition Promise when they complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The Wisconsin Tuition Promise will provide up to four years of tuition and fee funding for first-year and transfer students who are seeking their first bachelor’s degree. Students who enroll in on-campus and online programs are elligible.

Individual awards will vary, as the program is structured to provide financial support after federal and state grant aid is accounted for.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for the UW Oshkosh Tuition promise, a student must:

  1. Be a Wisconsin resident
  2. Have an adjusted gross income of less than $62,000 annually
  3. Be enrolled full-time as a freshman or transfer student in their first associate or bachelor’s degree
  4. Attend in person or online at one of the three campuses of UW Oshkosh
  5. Employed at some point in the prior year

How long can a student participate in this program?

Bachelor’s Degree Seeking Students

First-year students who are seeking a bachelor’s degree will receive four years (eight semesters) of free tuition and segregated fees. Transfer students who are seeking a bachelor’s degree will receive two years (four semesters) of free tuition and segregated fees.

Associate Degree Seeking Students

First-year and transfer students who are seeking an associate degree will receive two years (four semesters) of free tuition and segregated fees.

Which Programs are covered by the Wisconsin Tuition Promise at UW Oshkosh?

All students who are seeking their first undergraduate (associate or bachelor’s) degree are eligible. This includes online and in person programs. The Wisconsin Tuition Promise does not cover master’s or doctoral programs, and it is only for students who are enrolled full-time and making satisfactory academic progress.

Students must be Wisconsin residents and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

What if a student's household AGI is more than $62,000?

The UW Oshkosh Office of Financial Aid offers a variety of financing options, including scholarships, loans, grants, work study and more. All students are highly encouraged to submit the FAFSA and apply for scholarships through Academic Works.

 

Is there a limit to the number of students who will receive the tuition promise?

No, there is no limit to the number of students who will earn free tuition through the Wisconsin Tuition Promise at UW Oshkosh. Our goal is to invest in the future of as many Titans as possible, and through the tuition promise we aim to support students and their families.
