Another semester at UW Oshkosh has come to an end. Final exams have been taken, textbooks have been returned and the residence halls have been vacated by students heading home for the summer. While things on our campuses may have quieted, the needs of our students stand out more than ever.
It has been discovered through conversation that one of the main reasons students do not continue their education at UW Oshkosh is not because of academics or the cost of tuition; instead, it is due to the student’s inability to afford basic living expenses, like food and hygiene items.

This is where The Cabinet comes in. The Cabinet is UW Oshkosh’s on-campus food pantry. Founded in 2020 by students, for students, the program has continued to grow and thrive. Over a six-month period in 2022, The Cabinet was utilized over 700 times. With demand on the rise, we need your help to ensure that The Cabinet can continue to meet the needs of our students. Your monetary donation will directly support efforts to provide food security for our students, ensuring that they have the energy and focus they need to succeed in their studies.
Your contribution will help us purchase food and hygiene items and make capital investments for our pantry space. It also will help us expand our outreach efforts to ensure every student who needs our services knows they are available.
Please consider making a gift to Support The Cabinet and the difference it makes for UW Oshkosh students.

Myth
If students can afford to go to college, then they must be able to afford food.
Fact
Nationwide, 36% of college students are food insecure. Loans and grants often go toward paying tuition and housing, leaving little to
none left for food.
Myth
Students must face food insecurity because they aren’t working
Fact
According to the 2018 Hunger on Campus Report, approximately 56% of food insecure students are working. Many students must make decisions to either cut class to attend work, take on overtime, or have a second job merely to afford food.
