For Students

The Global Scholar Option is a 12-credit self-directed course of study open to all UWO students who wish to distinguish themselves as emerging global citizens prepared to navigate an increasingly complex and interdependent world.

Complete the Global Scholar Option with flexible course options and reflect on your experience in your ePortfolio:

  • Begin with a 3-credit Global Citizenship (GC) course (part of USP),
  • Complete 9 credits of Global Scholar (GS) courses at the 300/400 level, in at least two different departments, and
  • Deepen your learning and engagement with global issues with a significant hands-on experience such as service learning, alternative spring break, a clinical placement, faculty-student collaborative research or study abroad.

If you are interested in becoming a Global Scholar, follow the step-by-step process to declare the Global Scholar Option. Global Scholars will be distinguished at graduation. The distinction will be documented on your final transcript from the University.
