2021-2022 Calendar and Changes for Next year

UW Oshkosh Head Start will plan to provide fully in-person classes for 21/22 school year but will continue to implement CDC recommendations as needed. We are discontinuing the Virtual-Only option, though we are still exploring how this may be used to support children who are absent or for inclement weather days.

Class days will be changing for many of our communities next year.

  • Most 4k classrooms will convert from 6.75 hours of child contact time across all 5 days of the week to 7.25 hours of child contact time 4 days a week
  • Non-4k/3 year old classrooms will continue to have the same child contact hours
  • No school day shifts to Wednesday for most sites, to align with district partners

This change is occurring to create a calendar that is more consistent for students and families. School district requirements to attend professional develop training has caused many of our sites to not have class two Wednesdays a month. Head Start also had required days of no school and the resulting calendar had become very confusing. So most no-school days will occur on Wednesdays.

Families enrolled in Head Start for the 2021-2022 program year will receive more information during June.  In the month of August, family orientations will occur and teachers will contact you to schedule a Welcome Visit.

Head Start will also be holding an informational meeting on Thursday, May 27 at 11:15am. Join this Google Meet: https://meet.google.com/ynp-gsxq-twm if you want more information or have questions.
