Alternative Break

What is Alternative Break?

Alternative Break, or AB, is a program designed to provide college students with an experiential volunteerism opportunity. Participants spend their break with other UW Oshkosh students providing service to others, while also learning about a topic related to an area of social justice.

How does it work?

Reeve Union, along with Residence Life and Student Recreation co-sponsor the AB program at UW Oshkosh. Interested students apply for a spot on a trip (there are typically 4 per year). The application process consists of a paper application and an interview. Those who are selected are expected to attend all trip related meetings, and pay all trip fees. Fundraising efforts are planned if you choose to participate. Each trip is made up of 8 student participants, 1 student trip leader and 1 professional staff advisor.
