Move-In Help

The beginning of the academic year is quickly approaching! All of us at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh are looking forward to your arrival. Faculty, staff, and alumni are eager to welcome you to UW Oshkosh and the residence hall community.

As you prepare for your move, please take the time to click on the icons below to review important information about moving in and life on campus. You can view our policies, view parking and maps, and get move in information below.

Students will be given access to our Move-In Scheduler Portal App in early August. The exact date and time that they will have access to the Move-In Scheduler Portal App will be emailed to the student. Once they have access to the Move-In Scheduler Portal App, students will be able to select their specific date, time as well as register how many guests they will have during their move-in slot. Additional information will be emailed to students as we get closer to move-in.

Move-in Scheduler sign up will be early August. Check your email for more information this summer!

UWO Move-In Experience

Fully Staffed Move-in Operations will take place over a four-day period. The following days and times are tentative for the Fall 2023 school year.

Wednesday, August, 30 (11am – 7pm)

Thursday, August, 31 (10am – 5pm)

Friday, September, 1 (10am – 5pm)

Saturday, September, 2 (9am – 1pm)

Sunday, September, 3 starts the Regularly Scheduled Desk Operation hours that residents can check in at any time within these hours.

Desk Hours for Fall 2023 school year – 10am-8pm for all halls (Scott Hall will be open till 12am midnight)

You will arrive at your respective residence hall and be greeted by a My Titan Volunteer and other Residence Life Staff. You will check in at your respective hall’s outdoor check-in station. MyTitans and staff will be there to help direct you to those check-in stations, where to get carts, where to park after you unload, and to help answer any general questions you may have.

After checking your TitanCard (or other photo ID if you do not yet have your TitanCard), you will be given your keys, be formally checked into your housing assignment, Horizon residents will receive a Room Condition Inventory Form (RCI), and some opening events information.

Once checked in, you will unload your vehicle/s on the curb to move your vehicle before you move items up to your room. The MyTitan Volunteer and other Residence Life Staff will watch over your items while you or a member of your party parks your vehicle/s in a neighboring parking lot. (directions from each unloading zone will have directions to the approved neighboring parking lot)

If you have questions related to housing, please don’t hesitate to email us at housing@uwosh.edu or call (920) 424-3212.

Green Move-In Tips

How to pack:

Pack items in reusable containers such as Tupperware bins, bedding bags, milk crates, suitcases, or boxes from your local grocery or retail store.  If you do use cardboard boxes, get in contact with your local moving company to drop off the boxes for further reuse.

For fragile items, use clothing items, towels, and blankets to wrap them.  Another option would be to wrap items in old newspaper, but remember to recycle the newspaper properly when you have gotten settled in!

Save space:

Printers can be used in all residence halls and computer labs on campus.  There are computer labs in Polk Library as well as multiple academic buildings including: Swart Hall, Halsey Science Center, Sage Hall, and Clow Social Science Center.  Students are allowed a generous print quota.  Also, remember to print double sided to save paper!

Consider sharing TV and Gaming Systems with your roommate.  Contact your roommate before arriving on campus to discuss a plan and expectations.  Even when they are turned off, these items use significant amounts of energy by simply being plugged in.

Keep in mind that each residence hall room is equipped with furniture items including two desks, two desk chairs, two beds and two dressers and a set of trash and recycle bins for each resident. According to the Community Rights and Responsibilities Handbook, all furniture must stay in the residence hall rooms at all times.  Avoid bringing additional furniture unless you plan on bringing a futon and/or television stand and have rented lofts through the university.

Useful items to have:

If you decide that you will need a power strip, make sure to purchase one with a surge protector.  To easily save energy, simply plug your computer, phone charger, and other appliances into the power strip and keep it turned off when these items are not in use or when you leave the room.

Rather than carrying a case of plastic water bottles up to school, consider purchasing a BPA-free reusable water bottle. Brita pitchers are perfect for getting filtered water without the use of harmful plastic water bottles.

If you plan to do your laundry on campus, a laundry bag, detergent, fabric softener, and stain remover will be important items to have in your room.  Consider purchasing eco-friendly laundry products.

Bring a few re-usable tote bags when you go shopping, return books to the library, need to bring extra stuff to a meeting, or head to the gym.   Some handy re-usable bags are easy to fold up and keep in a backpack to use when needed.

Transportation when you are living on campus:

The campus is very walkable (that’s why we hold classes 10 minutes apart).  But, a bike is a great way to get exercise, get to off-campus jobs, or see the town.  You can explore the Wiouwash Trail, city parks, disk golf courses, or even downtown Oshkosh; it will take you only minutes to get to your favorite places.  The Go Transit System buses all carry bikes so you can get a lift to further destinations (Click here to learn how you can utilize this program).  Bring a lock and a helmet.
