How Mail and Packages are Delivered to the Residence Halls

Mail – the US Post Services delivers mail to each hall daily, except on Sundays and holidays. Mail is delivered to the a parcel locker outside of each hall and the residence hall desk staff will retrieve it and place in resident mailboxes and package storage locations daily.
Packages – Package Carriers deliver packages to each hall only when there are packages to deliver at each hall.
 

Resident Mail and Package Pickup

Mail – Mail can be picked up at your mailbox located in the Front Lobby of you residence hall. Donner, Evans, Scott Hall, Stewart and Taylor residents will use their room key to access their mailbox. Fletcher and Horizon residents will access their mailbox with a seperate mailbox key. Residents are instructed to pick up their key after checking into their residence hall. Residents are not notified of mail deliveries, unless it is a package. See packages below on how to retrieve a mail sent package. If the mailbox becomes too full or a mail item is too large to fit in the mailbox, notification to the resident will be made by the desk staff.
Packages – When a package is receive at the desk, the desk staff logs it into our Checkout system. This system will record information about a package and an email will be sent to the resident in an automated process. Once the resident receives that email, the resident may pick up their package. The resident will scan their ID into the system and all packages will populate that can be picked up. We ask that residents wait to receive the automated email from our checkout system before coming to pick up their item. Large amounts of packages are delivered per day and the staff need time to diligently log each one. If the package is not logged into the checkout system first, we cannot give the package to the resident.
 

Addressing Mail and Packages

The resident mailing address is very specific for residents living at a residence hall at UW-Oshkosh. If mail and packages are not addressed as follows, it may cause delays in the resident getting their package efficiently and risk being returned to sender. All mail and packages need to be addressed in the format below.
 

Residents, Need Assistance Locating a Package?

If a resident needs assistance trying to locate a piece of mail or package, please contact the Residence Life Housing Email, housing@uwosh.edu, and staff will assist you. When emailing, please send the following information se we can better assist you efficiently:
  • Name on Mail or Package
  • Carrier Name
  • Sender Name/Company
  • Tracking Number
  • Intended Delivery Date

If the package is being delivered by Amazon directly, please send screenshots of the tracking number and delivery information from user’s account. Amazon does not allow tracking numbers to be searched outside of the user account.

Information to Know

If you are sending an important piece of mail to the hall, it’s always good practice to get tracking on that piece of mail.

Amazon has very specific rules, regulation and policies. Please be sure to understand those when ordering items to be delivered to the Residence Halls. Besides the access to track items beyond the user specific account, they have very specific policies on deliveries and returns. All mail and packages need to be addressed in the following format to prevent delays and deliveries from being sent back to sender.

Forwarding Mail

  • When changing rooms/ halls, the Residence Life Office will change official University records.
  • When moving out of the halls, students must ensure their  mailing address is updated on their Titan web account. Residence Life will use the student’s home address to forward any first class mail once the student moves out of the residence halls.  First class mail and packages received from USPS will be forwarded for 1 year.  Magazines and newspapers will be forwarded for 60 days.
  • Please note:  If packages are shipped by UPS, and the student no longer resides in the residence halls, UPS will not leave the package.  They will take it back to their main location, mail a notification to the name and address on the package, and hold for seven days before returning to sender if not contacted.
