Travel Smarter

Transportation is responsible for 13% of all human caused greenhouse gas emissions. Decrease how much you drive and you’ll save money, while cutting down on your carbon footprint. Apply these tips to your own life to live more sustainably and eco-friendly.

Cruise Campus

24% of Greenhouse Gas Emissions come from tailpipe pollutants. Choose to ride your bike to class and reduce pollutants that are put into the air. If you do not have a bike or your bike needs repair, stop by the Student Recreation and Wellness Center bike repair shop to receive help. Walk the Talk

Traveling smarter can be a great opportunity to work on your health, while reducing your environmental impact. Statistics show a 180-pound person will burn about 100 calories per mile, so walk to your destination when possible and get fit.

Dig Around Town

Riding the bus rather than driving your own car can help reduce car emissions. Use the Oshkosh GO Transit service to travel around Oshkosh. There are multiple bus stops on campus that can be used anytime Monday through Saturday from 6:15am to 6:45pm. Riding a city bus is a new adventure for many UW Oshkosh students, if you have any questions or are looking for the bus schedule visit http://www.ci.oshkosh.wi.us/Transit/ for more information.

Zimride

UW Oshkosh has its own ride-sharing network through Zimride, a service providing students the opportunity to find and share rides with others on the network. Traveling to school, home, and to see friends can now be a time to meet new people, while sharing the costs of gasoline and cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions. To sign-up and get more information about Zimride and all that it offers visit the UW Oshkosh Zimride website at: https://www.zimride.com/uwoshkosh/
