Postdoctoral Seminar Program

Seminars by UW System Postdoctoral Scholars

Female Postdoctoral scholars in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) departments at UW Madison and UW Milwaukee were invited to apply to give a research seminar in spring 2017 at one of the UW System’s eleven comprehensive universities.  A grant from National Science Foundation’s ADVANCE: Increasing the Participation and Advancement of Women in Academic Science and Engineering Careers, paid for the postdoctoral scholar’s travel expenses.

The selected scholars visited one campus, where the met with students and faculty to share interesting research in a 40-45 minute seminar.  These were opportunities for the scholars to practice interview skills, and the host departments provided feedback on the presentations.  The scholars also learned about academic careers at primarily undergraduate institutions.
