International Business Emphasis

The International Business emphasis is recommended for students who wish to pursue careers within the global economy at financial institutions or corporations with operations across the globe.

International Business courses (15 credits):

To complete the International Business emphasis, students must complete one of the following College of Business Certificates.

  • International Economics
  • Supply Chain Managment
  • International Business

  • Economics 202 Principles of Microeconomics (XS)
  • Economics 410 International Capital Markets
  • ECON 420 International Trade

Plus three credits from:

  • ECON 319 Economics of Less Developed Countries
  • ECON 320 Econ of the Caribbean through Service Learning
  • ECON 336 Comparative Economic Systems
  • ECON 386 Economics of Latin America
  • ECON 387 Econ & Social Development of Great Britain
  • ECON 388 Economics of European Integration & Growth
  • An Approved international experience (ALL Office of International Education approved College of Business & Economics study abroad courses qualify. Other study abroad experiences may be approved by the Economics Department Chair)

Elective courses (6 credits):

Students pursuing the International Business emphasis will also take an additional 6 credits of electives in International Studies, in order to complete the major’s 36 credits requirement. Additionally, students must take courses from at least four different disciplines.

Prerequisite courses

Please note that most of the business classes listed above have course prerequisites and minimum GPA requirements that must be fulfilled before a student is allowed to enroll into a specific class.
