Getting Started – For Faculty and Staff
On your start day:
Step 1: Log into your NetID and TitanApps Accounts
These two accounts are used for your online work and communication on campus. Before logging in, please read the Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources policy.
- NetID – used for campus computer login, Desire2Learn (D2L), Titan WiFi, some website logins, and My UW System (Payroll)
- TitanApps – used for email, calendar, and Google Drive (online file storage)
Step 2: Familiarize yourself with TitanApps
TitanApps is UW Oshkosh’s email and calendaring system through Google Apps for Education, which also offers unlimited file storage with Google Drive. Step 3: Take a look at Titan Admin and TitanWeb
Some jobs on campus require access to Titan Admin, the administrative portion of TitanWeb. Your supervisor will know if you need access and will submit the form necessary to provide you access. The Registrar’s Office has information about Getting Access to Titan Admin as well as TitanWeb Help for Instructors and Advisers.
Step 4: Peruse the My UW System Site
Employee earning statements, absence/leave balances, tax documents and other human resources related documents are available online through the My UW System site. Here is a site with essential forms for new employees, benefit resources, and information about My UW System for New Employees.
After your first day:
Step 1: Connect to the WiFi
Your office computer will likely be set up with an ethernet Internet connection, however we know that laptops and mobile devices are commonplace and you’ll likely want your devices to connect to the Titan WiFi. Step 2: Gain more technology skills
With your employment at UW Oshkosh you get access to online training tutorials through Lynda.com but the Division of Information Technology also offers an array of classes and trainings to make sure you get the most out of the technology that UW Oshkosh has to offer.
Training includes, but is not limited to, Microsoft Office applications, Google Drive uses, iPad usage, Lecture Capture possibilities, and Classroom Technology training. Step 3: Get some additional software
Campus computers come with our most commonly used software as standard, however we understand that some jobs require more specialized software.
First, check out what software is a part of our standard package on Mac and Windows and if the software you need isn’t listed, give our Help Desk a call so you can reach peak productivity in no time. Contact the Help Desk at (920) 424-3020 or email@example.com.
Step 4: Review available resources
Now that you’re up and running, take a look at all the IT resources available to you.

If you should, unfortunately, encounter technology problems do not hesitate to contact our Help Desk or visit one of our Technology Centers, conveniently located throughout campus to make sure tech support is never far away.
