Michelle Sorenson

Field Assistant
Titan Thunder Marching Band

Michelle Sorenson earned both her Bachelor of Music Education (‘98) and Master of Science in Education (‘05) degrees  from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and is excited to return to campus as a music coach/field assistant with the Titan Thunder Marching Band.  Having spent the past 24 years teaching band in both the public and private schools in Oshkosh, she has worked with marching band students from their very first steps through their senior year of high school.

Currently Sorenson serves as the Director of Instrumental Music and Fine Arts Coordinator at Lourdes Academy where she has taught for the past 16 years.  Sorenson has been recognized for her teaching excellence in 2015 with a Herb Kohl Fellowship for Teacher Excellence in the state of Wisconsin and in 2014 with the Ed and Belle Rudoy Award for Excellence in Education from the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation.  Sorenson enjoys sharing her love of teaching with others by presenting professional development sessions at both the state and national level and most recently at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago. Bringing university students from all major areas of study together to form our marching band is certainly exciting, but she also looks forward to assisting our future music educators in the marching band as they work toward entering classrooms of their own.
