Jason J. Anhorn
Multicultural Mural 2020
Latex and Acrylic on Panels
About the Project
This mural initiative is a collaborative project led by student leaders from various multicultural groups and student organizations. Students initiated and led every aspect of the project. The objective of the initiative was to install a multicultural mural on the Oshkosh campus that celebrates diversity, promotes inclusiveness, and creates a greater sense of belonging for underrepresented students and groups at UW Oshkosh. The mural is an original art piece by Jason Anhorn.
About the Artist
Jason Anhorn is a professional fine artist who specializes in murals, canvas paintings, ice sculptures, and is world famous for his caricatures and a 3-time United States National Snow Sculpting Champion. When confronted with the challenge of designing a multicultural mural for UW Oshkosh, the first thing that came to his mind was music. He decided he would create a design inspired by the universal language of music.
Every culture may create different sounding music, but every culture sings the same song. Jason appreciates the opportunity to create an original painting that is a representation of all cultures in a positive light. Education and the arts are important to Jason and he believes they are a good pursuit of happiness.
Jason Anhorn is greatly appreciative to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, all of the university students, faculty and alumni of UW Oshkosh. Be a free thinker and everyone can achieve their dreams if they dedicate time to practicing their interests!
