Student Employment

Work In The Music Department

The Department, on occasion, may have openings for student positions within the department: office workers, music libraries, and ushers/stagehands. Ushers/stagehands put in the majority of their hours on evenings and weekends according to their availability.

Due to budgetary constraints, we attempt to hire the majority of our student workers from those who have been awarded work study money. If we cannot acquire enough employees with work study eligibility, we will consider hiring those students in the Student Assistant category so that all positions will be filled.

Please apply for jobs using Handshake. We ask that you also submit our Student Application Form. It should be uploaded to Handshake at the time you apply, or emailed to elmera@uwosh.edu. We will also accept via fax to (920) 424-1266 or mailed to the UW Oshkosh Department of Music, Attn: Student Employment, 800 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh, WI 54901.

Current Openings

Please fill out the application above for all positions. See Handshake for full job descriptions.

  • Work Study – Music Stage/Usher Crew

The Music Department is looking for students to join our stage & usher crew, with employment starting in February! Hired students will be trained on both stagehand and usher duties. The hours vary, but include nights and weekends during our scheduled departmental concerts and recitals. Events take place in the Music Hall in the Arts & Communication Building. Our Calendar of Events can be found here: https://uwosh.edu/music/community/calendar. Spring events are still being scheduled.

Usher: Includes greeting the general public, collecting admission and issuing tickets if sold, distributing programs or QR codes, admitting latecomers at the earliest appropriate time, clearing music hall of any trash after the event, and helping the stage person to disinfect the area if necessary.

Stagehand: Set up stage and make changes in Music Hall for department concerts/recitals. This includes moving chairs, stands, pianos, and other instruments, holding the stage door for performers, and other related duties as requested. Open all lobby doors prior to performances and lock after all performers and guests have left the Hall area. Help to disinfect stands, piano keys, etc.
