OSO is a home for musicians of all majors, levels, and ages, those who are skilled as well as those who are aspiring. OSO offers members the opportunity to learn, rehearse, and perform music, as well as foster community engagement and economic and social development. Internships and practicums are available.

For the students of OSO, the unique model provides a professional training orchestra experience. Professional principal players mentor and instruct students within their sections. The unique environment stimulates learning through the rehearsal process and enables the performance of more advanced and challenging music. OSO expands the offering of the UWO Department of Music as it provides an outlet for adult musicians to continue their passion for playing in an orchestral ensemble.

If you are interested in performing with or working with the orchestra, please contact Dr. Dylan T. Chmura-Moore at chmuramd@uwosh.edu.

PARTNERSHIP AND HISTORY

Both Oshkosh Symphony Orchestra and University of Wisconsin Oshkosh play a vital role in the community in regard to education, cultural enrichment, and community building. A partnership exists to strengthening a shared mission: to best serve the people of Oshkosh and beyond through educational endeavors, economic development, and the presentation of exceptional musical programing that “heighten intellectual, cultural, and humane sensitivities.”

OSO is proud to serve the people of Northeast Wisconsin in pursuit of building a stronger and more beautiful community. This begins with the people of the orchestra; musicians from diverse backgrounds, providing the orchestra with a rich cultural and musical foundation. Professional musicians, community members, and UWO students perform side-by-side; making this a symphony with a wide variety of people and skill, and one always open to new members.
