Music Industry

Where art and technology meet

The UW Oshkosh Music Industry program is an exciting way for students to build skills toward a career in the multi-billion dollar entertainment industry! Founded by Wally Messner in 1974, it is one of the first programs of its kind in the United States. Program graduates have established careers in recording, film, video, multimedia and marketing-related industries across the country.

The major offers three program options: Music Business, Audio Production and a double major that combines the two. The programs include a substantial core of music courses of approximately 70 credits toward a Bachelor of Music Degree. A 24-credit Music Industry Minor is also offered to students who take a major other than Music.

Students and graduates have landed a diverse array of internships and jobs. These include Blackbird Studios and House of Blues Studios in Nashville, the “Conan” late night show, Yamaha Musical Instruments, Pandora Radio, Thirty Tigers Entertainment Company, Sweetwater Sound, Blast House Studio in Madison, Wisconsin, Hal Leonard Publishing, Capitol Records, Jensen Communications Media Management, Volition games, and many more.

Listen to work recorded in our studios or produced by our students.
