QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) is a practical and evidence-based suicide prevention training that prepares participants to recognize a potential suicide crisis and respond in a safe and supportive way. In just 90-120 minutes, this training aims to empower participants, regardless of their background, to make a positive difference in the life of someone they know by teaching them the common causes of suicidal behavior, warning signs, and three simple steps that can be used to help someone in crisis.

Suicide is a major public health concern. According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) over 48,000 people died by suicide in the United States in 2018; it is the 10th leading cause of death overall. Suicide is complicated and tragic, but it is often preventable. Knowing the warning signs for suicide and how to get help can save lives. This workshop will provide information on the signs, symptoms, and behaviors of what to look for in someone who may be suicidal.

Chief/Company Officer Certificate

The Chief/Company Officer Program (COP) is a collaborative initiative between UW Oshkosh and the Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs Association (WSFCA), providing officers with broad perspectives on various facets of fire and emergency services administration. Through six online educational courses, the COP framework helps officers strengthen their communication and leadership skills and gain a better understanding of public administration in fire and emergency services. Upon successful completion of all six courses and having met the prerequisites for Fire Officer II, you are eligible to apply for Fire Officer III certification through ProBoard.

Cybersecurity and Digital Risk Management

Short Online Trainings for Social Workers

The following pre-recorded, online trainings were developed by Aspire Training & Consulting for social workers and professional counselors in the State of Wisconsin. These trainings can be taken at any time. UW Oshkosh Continuing Education will award one credit hour (0.1 CEU) for every 60 minutes of training completed. Some of the trainings have been packaged to equal approximately 60 minutes of training time. Upon completion, a CEU certificate will be automatically generated when you successfully complete the course, listing which training was completed and the number of CEUs awarded.
