Save the Date for the Adolescent Health Symposium

Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021 Keynote Presenter: James J. Conway 

James J. Conway (Jim) is a veteran trainer and speaker with over 25 years of experience providing training and consultation to youth-serving professionals and volunteers in educational and community-based organizations in the U.S. and abroad. He has designed and delivered major training for Search Institute since 1995.

For the last decade, Conway also served as a lead trainer and presenter for Vision Training Associates. Conway has also served as a member of the national training team, National Institute on Out-of-School Time at Wellesley College in Massachusetts.

Prior to beginning his career as a trainer and speaker on positive youth development, Conway served for 15 years in leadership roles of various programs for children and young adolescents.

Friday, Feb. 19, 2021 Keynote Presenter: Deborah Tackmann, B.S., M.E.P.D.

With more than 30 years of experience as a health and physical education instructor in Wisconsin, Deborah Tackmann, B.S., M.E.P.D. was recognized by USA Today as one of the top teachers in the nation and has been awarded two National Health Educator of the Year Awards by the American School Health Association and American Association of Health Educators.

An author, health consultant, coach, university faculty member and mother, Tackmann is an exemplary teacher with a passion to inspire and empower others to be happy, healthy and successful in life. She has presented hundreds of cutting-edge seminars and keynotes in more than 35 states.

Tackmann was the first teacher from Wisconsin to be inducted into the National Teacher Hall of Fame in 2012.

The Symposium is offered in partnership with the UW-La Crosse Department of Health Education and Health Promotion and Community Health, UW-La Crosse Extended Learning and the UW Oshkosh Division of Online and Continuing Education, with support from the Samaritan Family Wellness Foundation.
