All sessions will be instructed by Melinda Marasch, who was born and raised in Wisconsin, receiving her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Marasch has dedicated almost 25 years to her passion in helping others. She recently moved back to Wisconsin from Colorado, where she has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and continues her career as a social work/mental health trainer and consultant. Marasch specializes in clinical training, supervision and development of programs for social workers and other direct care providers. She often helps non-therapist direct care staff to be efficient, effective and therapeutic in the work they do. She has worked in residential, school and outpatient care; within healthcare (e.g. HIV/AIDS medical case managers, patient navigators), public (e.g. department of human services case workers, child support enforcement workers) and community-based organizations. Marasch is a member of the international Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and has presented numerous trainings across the U.S. on therapeutic approaches such as motivational interviewing, trauma informed care, self-care, mental health issues, de-escalation and more.

Why should I enroll?

The program will help participants understand the process of applying for both national and Wisconsin social work certification, the purpose, structure and content areas of the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) certification/licensure exam. You will be able to apply recognized test-taking strategies to enable you to successfully complete the level of ASWB exam you will be taking and recognize how to select the correct answer to several sample exam questions that will build your confidence for successful completion of the ASWB exam. Even if you plan to move out of state, you will benefit from this course.

 

How does the program work?

The instructor will provide a detailed overview of the application process for social work certification/licensure and the ASWB exam. The program will cover test-taking strategies and include sample questions from all four levels of the exam that correspond to the four types of social work certification in Wisconsin (bachelor’s, master’s, advanced generalist and clinical). The workshop will be delivered via Zoom.

 

How much does the program cost?

The program cost is $75 for current UW students and $90 for non-students.

When do I have to register by?

Registration must be completed 7 days prior to the workshop. After that date, please call Online and Continuing Education at (920) 424-1129 or email conted@uwosh.edu to determine program availability.

Credit and debit card payments will only be accepted electronically. OCE will no longer accept credit and debit card payments via phone, mail, or fax.

Note: Fee payment must be received by the registration deadline.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received 10 full business days or more before the start of a program will receive a full refund, minus a $35 processing fee. No refunds will be made for cancellations received less than 10 full business days before the program begins. UW Oshkosh reserves the right to cancel any program due to insufficient enrollment, as well as the right to limit enrollment due to excessive demand.
