Jogging with Jaguars

Stephanie Gulbrandsen

Senior, Early Childhood Special Education

Abstract

My STEAM lesson plan entitled, “Jogging with Jaguars,” is going to develop preschool student’s knowledge of Jaguars in the five STEAM categories of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. Each day, class will focus on a different STEAM category. Throughout the 5-day unit, students will be able to accumulate a deeper understanding of Jaguars. During the planning process for the lesson, I used artificial intelligence (AI) to create a Jaguar as a main character to make my pedagogy as age-appropriate and relatable. In addition, I authored new lyrics and created movements to the tune of a classical children’s song titled, “I’m a little Teapot” to get my preschool students involved in the learning process of “what a Jaguar says….”. At the end of this lesson, preschool students should be able to know and name the colors of a Jaguar, and “what a Jaguar says”.
