“Ellimac,” composed by Ashton Boyd is a experiment in the combination of two drastically different styles: Classical Romanticism and Jazzy Big Band Swing. The tune is based off of Saint-Saens’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor, a staple of Romantic repertoire, and is morphed into a modern fast swing, with solos for piano, guitar, and trumpet. The name of the tune is Saint-Saens’s first name, Camille, spelled backwards.
