Assault – Strong Armed Robbery

Four incidents (one on campus and three near campus) of concern to students, staff and faculty occurred during the early morning hours of June 27, 2010. Due to the nature of the incidents and in the interest of safety, with the belief that an informed community is a safer community, we are notifying you of the following incident.

On 6/27/2010 at approximately 1:30 a.m., a male UW Oshkosh student was assaulted in the area between Wisconsin Street and Scott Hall near High Avenue. The student was punched several times by two males and had personal property taken from him after the assault. The suspects in the case were described consistently with the suspects listed in three additional assaults investigated by Oshkosh Police Department. These assaults and descriptions described below were within close proximity to the UW Oshkosh campus.

The Oshkosh Police department received reports of three strong-armed robberies where two men riding BMX bicycles approached victims and demanded money. The robberies took place in the 600 block of Elmwood Avenue, the 400 block of Pearl Avenue and the area of Irving Avenue and Jackson Street. The men were able to get an undetermined amount of money from four victims, said Joe Nichols, spokesman for the Oshkosh Police department.

The suspects are described as two black men, between the ages of 17 and 20, with skinny builds. They are between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. One man had cornrows in his hair while the other man had a shaved head. One of the men was wearing black, square-rimmed glasses and both men were riding BMX bicycles.
