Assault – Strong Armed Robbery

While crime took place off campus, given its proximity, we want to relay the known details of the incident to our campus community members. There is no immediate concern for the safety of faculty, staff or students. We share the information because an informed community is a safer community.

On Monday, July 11, 2011 at approximately 10:36 p.m., a 24-year-old male from Madison was attacked by three to four male black subjects while walking on W. Lincoln Avenue between Franklin Street and Frederick Street. The victim was punched and kicked and had his wallet and a cell phone taken in the attack. The victim did not require medical attention.

The suspects were seen driving away in a dark blue or black Pontiac Grand Am north on Frederick Street. The victim’s wallet was found a short while later on Frederick St. A small amount of cash was taken from the wallet. The incident remains under investigation.
