The following are two Safety Bulletins from incidents that occurred near campus in the last few days. The Oshkosh Police Department is handling the investigations as they happened off campus. INCIDENT #1

On March 3, 2012 at approximately 12:50 a.m., in the 800 block of Wisconsin Street, several UW Oshkosh students were throwing snow balls and a snow ball hit a moving vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle stopped and ran after the students who fled into the local apartments. One student was confronted by one of the occupants of the vehicle and that occupant pointed a handgun at the person and wanted to know who threw the snowball. The suspects in the case eventually left the scene and nobody was injured.

DESCRIPTION OF SUSPECT

• It was reported that there were 4-6 people coming from the suspect vehicle.
• All occupants were described Asian Males of varying heights.
• One male had a shaved head. No further information was available.

DESCRIPTION OF VEHICLE

• The vehicle was described as a black, 4-door, Integra or Acura

INCIDENT #2

A UW Oshkosh student was walking home from the Student Rec and Wellness Center on Sunday March 4, 2012 between 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The student was stopped by a male subject on Woodland Avenue near Elmwood Avenue. The male subject had on a baggy hooded sweatshirt, was approximately 5’10” – 6′ tall, and had a medium build. The victim could not make out any distinguishing features of the perpetrator due to a hood masking his face. The suspect pointed something from inside the sweatshirt, which the student believed to be a handgun (although it was not revealed). The suspect demanded money from his wallet which was turned over and the suspect ran from the scene. There were no reported injuries.

There was no information from either investigation that pointed to this being an ongoing threat. However, an informed community is a safer community. In addition, solving these types of crimes often involve assistance from the community.
