On Sunday, October 26, 2014 at around 9:15PM a man and his friend were walking North on McKinley St from John Ave. in Oshkosh. The two men saw two other men walking toward them in the middle of McKinley St. The defendant and the other man crossed the street and walked toward the victim and his friend. As the two groups approached each other the defendant ran toward the victim and struck him without any warning. The victim had never seen the defendant prior to this incident.
The Oshkosh Police Department has identified the second person who was walking with the defendant prior to the attack on October 26th, 2014. This person was not involved in the assault and is cooperating with the investigation. No charges are expected on this person based on the current results of the investigation.
The Oshkosh Police Department continues to pursue leads related to two similar crimes that occurred in this area last week. This includes a robbery on October 23rd at 751Wisconsin St and two stabbings on October 24th,one near 400 W. Lincoln Av. and the other in the 800 block of Wright St. Detectives would like to speak with anyone that may have seen either of these crimes.
Detectives are aware that three men were close to one of the stabbing victims on October 24th when he was attacked. The suspect spoke with these three men prior to the attack near 400 W. Lincoln St. This occurred between 10:00PM and 11:00PM on October 24th. Detective Artus would like to speak with these three potential witnesses about this incident.
