In an effort to keep our students safe, UWOshkosh has a Safewalk and Saferide program that provides trained Community Service Officers (CSOs) to safely escort community members on and around campus during the evening and night hours.
The CSOs are trained in defensive tactics, they patrol in pairs and they have a direct link to the Police Department through police radios.
Note: In an effort to alleviate fears of requesting an escort while intoxicated, no questions are asked unless the welfare of the requester, the CSOs or the general public is in question.
Safewalks are available every evening, Saferides are available as often as possible but currently we aren’t offering it every night. If you’re interested in using this service just give us a call or use the app to make a request and we’ll let you know what options we have each night.
General Hours of Operation:
Sunday – Wednesday 5 p.m. – 2:30 a.m.
Thursday – Saturday 7:30 p.m. – 4:00 a.m.
During normal business hours Monday – Friday there is a free shuttle operating by Parking Services. This shuttle is visible through UWO Mobile. More information can be found here.

We’re currently working to update the areas we provide Safewalks and Saferides to and from. The current general guideline is within approximately 5 block of the edge of campus. If you’re not sure whether you are within our area, give us a call or chat with us using “UWO Mobile”
The UW Oshkosh Police are excited to announce that Safewalks can now be requested using the Safewalk App.
The app is available for both iPhone and Android phones. It is included in the UWO Mobile App.
You can request a Safewalk or Saferide by clicking “Safety Resources” then “Safe Walk” then “Chat for a Safe Walk”.
