Scholarships

The psychology department offers students the following scholarships:

  • George R. Soika Scholarship Fund
  • Michael D. Kogutek Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Application Process

UW Oshkosh uses an online scholarship application process.
Please go to Academic Works to apply.

  • We recommend entering “psychology” in the “show filter” box to limit results to only psychology scholarships.
  • Beatrice Barlow Lampert and Phillip D. Lampert Scholarship and Bowman Scholarship are also open to Psychology Students.

When applying, you need to prepare:

  1. Current STAR report
  2. Short essay (less than 1,000 words) discussing:
    • Educational and career plans, including whether you plan to attend graduate school in psychology.
    • How your experiences outside of college classes (e.g., research, volunteer, work, club activities) have contributed to your educational experience. This is particularly important for the Kogutek Scholarship.
    • Financial need.
  3. Two faculty recommendations (at least one must be from a psychology faculty member)

George R. Soika Scholarship

The George R. Soika Scholarship Fund will award ONE $1,650 scholarship payable toward tuition the following fall. Applicants must:

  • Be full-time enrolled Psychology major
  • FASFA – determined financial need
  • Have two to four semesters remaining at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh
  • Be able to demonstrate breadth of interest within and beyond psychology
  • Have a GPA of 3.4 or better

Michael D. Kogutek Scholarship

The Michael D. Kogutek Scholarship Fund will award TWO $2,000 scholarships payable toward tuition the following fall. Participation in University-wide extra-curricular activities (excluding athletics) will be a strong consideration in this award. Applicants must:

  • Be a full-time enrolled psychology major
  • Have two to four semesters remaining at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Demonstrated commitment to the field of psychology
  • Be planning to attend graduate study in psychology
