Student Spotlight – Andrew Haese

Since I was in high school, I was addicted to listening to podcasts and radio, so it was a no brainer that the Radio TV Film program was for me. (UWO was the only school I applied to!)

With my passion for broadcasting, I became the student station manager for UW Oshkosh’s campus radio station, WRST-FM, in just my second year of college. This made me one of the youngest student leaders in station history. My work has garnered me the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Student Leadership Award in 2020, along with being named one of the best college radio hosts in the state and country by the College Media Association and Wisconsin Broadcasters Association in 2019 and 2020.

In RTF, I’ve had opportunities to grow my skills and share my work with both classmates and the Oshkosh community, whether it be on Titan TV, WRST-FM or online. And even though audio production is my passion, RTF has given me the chance to improve my video and television production skills, overall preparing me for a career in any field. During my freshman year, I joined the TV show “Wired Up” on a whim, producing a weekly segment: “Hot Takes With Haze”, which caused me to meet one of my best friends.

Andrew is a regular host on 90.3 WRST-FM

When I graduate from UWO, I hope to produce audio content for commercial radio networks, as well as continue to grow my radio network: A100 Radio Network Milwaukee, a Top 40/CHR radio station on iHeartRadio and custom branded station-maker for retail businesses.

Overall, through the Radio TV Film department, I’ve grown as a content creator and had the opportunity to learn from talented industry professionals, who prepare each student for career success. You’ll never be in better hands and you’ll never meet professors and mentors that care more about your work than in the RTF program.
