We use online, classroom, and on-the-job methods to train on many topics related to occupational safety. Most topics are mandatory, required to be reviewed on an annual basis. Other topics are chosen to demonstrate best practices or to address a new situation. Employees or their leaders may request topics as well.

Online Training

We use Safe Colleges for pre-packaged online safety training. The Safety Coordinator registers new employees into the Safe Colleges program, and assigns courses required by the employees’ job position.

Classroom Training

The Safety Coordinator conducts training at each department meeting space. Lecture, handouts, discussion, and Power Point are the formats used.


The Safety Coordinator may go to work shops or sites to train on a very specific task or procedure.
