UW Oshkosh Fox Cities Campus

Marilee White Award for Instructional Academic Staff

Brett Hoffman

Hoffman, a lecturer in the anthropology, global religions and cultures department, teaches a variety of anthropology courses both in person on the Fox Cities campus and online. He works with the UW Missing in Action Recovery and Identification Project as a senior member of the recovery team. The project’s goal is to recover, identify and repatriate U.S. service members from past global conflicts.

Through the Fox Cities campus’ anthropology lab, Hoffman has been working with students on a series of research, training and public outreach activities. Several components of these activities led to Hoffman being honored with the 2022 Marilee White Award for Instructional Academic Staff at the Fox Cities campus. One of the outcomes of these activities was a student-led revision of a display case focused on the application of a variety of anthropological concepts covered in Fox Cities campus course offerings towards a public outreach and education goal. The anthropology lab continues its commitment to student-led activities in the new academic year with additional research, training and outreach activities planned.
