Finding External Funding
If you are looking for external sources of funding, consider beginning your search at one of the following search databases:
1. The Grants Resource Center (GRC) is available to campuses who are members of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU). Use the grant search option below to find both federal and non-federal funding opportunities that are currently active and accepting proposals.
Grant Search,User: uwosh Pswd: academic
The Grants Resource Center also offers an option for faculty and staff so receive listings of targeted funding opportunities direct to their e-mail. Individuals can set up alerts that are specific to their research needs and areas of professional interest. Once established, alerts are delivered to your e-mail inbox on a monthly basis, typically in the middle of the month.
2. Pivot is a resource for searching for both federal and non-federal sources of funding, although this site tends to focus on non-federal and private sources of funding. Pivot also provides personalized profiles for faculty and staff. These profiles provide an up-to-date listing of funding opportunities that match an individual’s professional interests, field of research, or academic subject. Profiles are already established for many of our faculty and staff, however, those without a profile can easily claim their profile to begin targeting funding opportunities.
3. Grants.gov is a great funding search platform for individuals seeking U.S. federal funding sources. Searches can be tailored by Sponsor Type, Funding Type, Academic Category & Subject, Deadline Month, and a variety of other filters. This site offers funding opportunities from all federal sponsors, including National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Department of the Interior, Department of State, Department of Justice, and many others.
Contact the Office of Sponsored Programs for more information about these funding searches. Our staff can provide guidance or step-by-step instructions for navigating these search platforms. If you are having difficulty with your funding search our staff can also provide assistance in identifying funding options for you.
Proposal Preparations
Please follow these steps for submitting a grant proposal:
1. Notify OSP of your intent to submit a proposal (email OSP@uwosh.edu). Please notify our office as soon as you decide you will submit a grant proposal. We can provide more services to you if we are notified early in the process.
2.. Develop/write your proposal. OSP staff can provide a submission checklist and timeline to help guide you through the process. If time allows, our staff can also review your drafted proposal for compliance with the RFP and check for grammar or spelling errors.
3. Work with OSP staff to develop your project budget. Our staff can ensure that the appropriate rates for fringe and indirect costs are utilized. We will also ensure no unallowable costs are built into the budget.
4. Submit your proposal to OSP for internal review at least 5 business days prior to sponsor’s submission deadline. Our staff will review the proposal and budget to ensure they align with the sponsor’s submission requirements.
5. Address any revisions OSP may suggest.
